Alexander Pappas Shares Message Of Surrender In New Single “Hands Up”

Alexander Pappas Announces New EP ‘SUNDAY’ Set For Release In April. Worship leader and songwriter Alexander Pappas, widely known as a founding member of the twice GRAMMY-nominated collective Hillsong Young & Free, has revealed plans for his forthcoming EP titled SUNDAY, scheduled for release on April 24.

The announcement arrived alongside a deeply personal reflection shared across Pappas’ social media, where he unpacked his evolving understanding of corporate worship gatherings and the true purpose of worship music in the lives of believers. The message quickly struck a chord within the worship community, as he reflected on years spent writing and leading songs while quietly questioning their impact beyond the church walls.

“I’ve been writing worship songs for a few years now and leading them for much longer,” Pappas shared. “I’ve wrestled with the value of Sundays, wondering if we offered enough for Mondays. I’ve felt the tension in trying to connect singing with a lifestyle of worship.”

He spoke honestly about the inner conflict many worship leaders experience, describing moments of feeling confident and called, followed by seasons of doubt, insecurity, and feeling like an unqualified imposter. Despite the uncertainty and overthinking, Pappas pointed to Jesus as a constant presence and a patient companion through the confusion, while reaffirming his growing conviction about Christ’s love for His church.

“If He places such value on her, so will I,” he wrote.

Offering a fresh perspective, Pappas reframed how Sunday services can be understood. Rather than comparing them to gas stations or grocery stores, he likened them to a gym.

“Professional basketball players don’t only play the game to prepare for 38 minutes on the court,” he explained. “They train fundamentals. It’s demanding, sometimes boring and exhausting, but the results speak for themselves.”

Through this lens, corporate worship becomes a training ground where believers prepare for their everyday lives, practising devotion that carries into their unique moments throughout the week, all for the glory of God.

“So if Sundays are a gym,” Alexander Pappas added, “then I hope these songs can be a personal trainer you take with you into the rest of the week.”

He closed the post by inviting listeners to presave the EP, signing off with a warm promise: “It would be my honour to be your PT.”

Pappas has long been celebrated for writing worship anthems that connect communal gatherings with everyday faith. Recent releases such as “A Great Awakening” and his collaboration with Lakewood Music on “Rejoice Again” reflect his ongoing commitment to crafting songs the church can sing together while clearly proclaiming the Gospel.

The SUNDAY EP arrives as Pappas continues to focus on what he has previously described as “Sunday music,” songs created for corporate worship that equip believers for life beyond the service. Presave links are now live via his bio across major platforms.

As anticipation builds toward the April 24 release, fans and fellow worship leaders have already praised the reflection for its honesty and fresh vision of why the church gathers. The upcoming EP promises to serve as both a soundtrack for Sunday and a companion for the week that follows.
