Cory Asbury Clarifies: He Won’t Perform At Rumoured “Jesus Bowl” Super Bowl Halftime Show
Cory Asbury Puts “Jesus Bowl ’26” Halftime Idea On Hold
Cory Asbury Clarifies: He Won’t Perform At Rumoured “Jesus Bowl” Super Bowl Halftime Show. After weeks of swirling speculation, worship artist Cory Asbury is setting the record straight. Rumours had been circulating that Asbury, alongside collaborator Forrest Frank, would headline a faith-centred “alternative” Super Bowl halftime show reportedly organised by conservative group Turning Point USA.

On Tuesday, Asbury addressed the rumours directly in a video post, putting fans’ questions to rest. “I’ve been getting absolutely blown up about this Jesus Bowl ’26 alternative halftime show idea,” Asbury said. “I’m getting tens of thousands of messages and comments. I love it, but I’m here to provide some clarity on this thing.”
The confusion began last month, when Asbury and Forrest Frank floated the concept of a “Jesus Bowl” halftime event—a faith-focused alternative to the traditional Super Bowl performance. The idea quickly went viral, capturing widespread attention online. Shortly afterwards, Turning Point USA announced that it planned to host its own “alternative halftime show,” which many fans assumed would involve Asbury and Frank.
“They announced their own show — no venue, no artists — but said, ‘Hey, we’re doing this,’” Asbury explained. “In the spirit of unity, Forrest and I jumped on a call with their team. But at the end of the day, the two visions are just incompatible.”
Asbury emphasised that while he and Frank support creative expressions of faith in music, their vision differs from that of the Turning Point USA initiative. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and interest from fans, but made it clear that they will not be performing at the political group’s event.
Fans had eagerly anticipated the possibility of seeing Asbury and Frank bring their faith-driven energy to one of the biggest stages in entertainment, but Asbury’s clarification ensures there is no misunderstanding moving forward. He encouraged followers to continue celebrating faith through music in ways that resonate personally, even if it’s outside the spotlight of a national stage.
With the rumours now clarified, Asbury and Frank can focus on their own projects, leaving fans excited for whatever new faith-centred performances they may unveil in the future.
