Kuda Mutsvene Reveals Inspiration Behind New Single “Ishe Ndovimba” Nemi In Triumphant Return To Music
Kuda Mutsvene Reveals Inspiration Behind New Single “Ishe Ndovimba” Nemi In Triumphant Return To Music. After a long absence from the gospel music scene, Kudakwashe Mutsvene has made a triumphant return with his new single Ishe Ndovimba Nemi.

The song, whose title translates to “Lord, I Trust in You,” reflects a journey of personal struggle, redemption, and the enduring influence of his sister Mercy Mutsvene, whose powerful voice continues to shape Zimbabwe’s gospel community.
Speaking on Star FM Zimbabwe’s Gospel Greats program with host Yvonne Tivatye, Kudakwashe opened up about his battle with drug abuse and addiction. He credited his sister’s unwavering faith and spiritual dedication for inspiring his comeback.
“When I was writing Ishe Ndovimba Nemi, I remembered Mercy singing in her room with the windows closed, praying,” he shared. Those sacred moments became the foundation for the song’s heartfelt lyrics.
Kudakwashe recalled how he once thought the profound words Mercy used in her hit Panyika would carry over into his future music, but life took a different course. “During my darkest days, when I struggled with addiction, I held onto her prayers, and they became this song,” he said.
The single weaves Shona lyrics with soul-stirring melodies, creating a sound that honours Mercy’s influence while telling his own story of faith and resilience.
He also delivered a cautionary message to fellow gospel artists. “To other musicians listening, stay grounded in your faith. When both God and temptation call, you can easily find yourself exposed and without guidance,” Kudakwashe warned. His words underscore the challenges of maintaining spiritual integrity in the music industry.
As part of his ongoing journey, Kudakwashe is preparing to release a full album in March, promising more music that uplifts and inspires Zimbabwe’s gospel audience. The single is available now on all major streaming platforms, inviting listeners to experience a brotherly tribute infused with faith and devotion.
