Tommee Profitt is bringing something extra to the Christmas season with an expanded edition of his acclaimed holiday project, The Birth of a King. The award-winning producer, songwriter and cinematic composer has announced a Live Deluxe Edition of the album, featuring five previously unreleased tracks captured during his sold-out concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
Scheduled to arrive this Friday, the expanded release marks the first time the project has received new material since its original debut in 2020. The additional songs were recorded and filmed during last year’s arena performance, allowing listeners to experience more of the production beyond the original album.
Sharing the announcement, Profitt reflected on the special place the Christmas project holds in his musical journey. He admitted that he once believed the album had reached its final form, making the decision to expand it an unexpected but meaningful development.
“This Christmas album will forever be my favourite project I’ve ever worked on,” he said. “I thought it was complete back in 2020… and I never thought I would add anything. But I’m thankful God showed me that there was more to explore!”
First introduced in 2020, The Birth of a King brought a fresh cinematic approach to traditional Christmas music, blending familiar carols with grand orchestral arrangements, contemporary production and contributions from various vocalists. What began as a studio project gradually developed into an annual live Christmas experience, attracting increasingly larger audiences and featuring powerful choirs, orchestras and guest performers.
The concert production eventually found its way to Bridgestone Arena, where last year’s sold-out gathering provided the setting for the five additional recordings.
For Profitt, the upcoming release offers an opportunity to revisit a project that continues to grow beyond his original expectations. Expressing his excitement about sharing the new material, he added, “I’m so excited and cannot wait for you all to hear and see!”
With both audio and visual recordings included in the Live Deluxe Edition, the expanded project will allow listeners to experience more of the atmosphere and musical scale that have made the annual concerts special.
