Bethel Music’s Jenn Johnson To Release Vulnerable New Single ‘Mad at God’
Bethel Music’s Jenn Johnson Announces Debut Solo Album ‘HAPPY.’ Worship leader and songwriter Jenn Johnson has officially stepped into a new creative season. The Bethel Music co-founder recently took to Instagram to reveal that her first-ever solo album, HAPPY, will be released on May 22.

Sharing the news with fans, Johnson wrote, “So excited to announce my first solo project, ‘HAPPY,’ is coming out May 22nd. A mosaic of songs from my life. I can’t wait to share it with you.”
The announcement marks a major moment in Johnson’s career. For years, she has been a defining voice in modern worship through her leadership at Bethel Music and her collaborations with her husband, Brian Johnson. She has helped shape numerous influential worship projects and lent her voice to beloved songs such as Goodness of God. Despite her long list of contributions, HAPPY will be the first full-length project released solely under her own name.
Johnson describes the album as “a mosaic of songs from my life,” hinting at a deeply personal body of work shaped by her experiences, faith journey, and relationships. Listeners have already received an early glimpse of the project through recent releases. One of the songs, “Here in Your Arms,” features Brian Johnson and captures a tender expression of love and devotion. Another track, “Walk With Me,” was co-written with and features Tiffany Hudson, reflecting themes of companionship with God and daily gratitude.
Together, these songs suggest that HAPPY will carry a warm and reflective tone that celebrates joy, faith, and life’s meaningful moments.
Beyond her music, Johnson serves as President of Bethel Music and helps lead the Bethel Music Worship School, where she has spent years mentoring and shaping the next generation of worship leaders. Her upcoming solo project represents a new artistic chapter while continuing the heartfelt authenticity that has defined her ministry.
Since the announcement, fans have flooded social media with excitement and encouragement, eager to hear how Johnson’s distinctive voice and storytelling will unfold across a full solo album.
With the May 22 release date approaching, anticipation continues to grow. For many listeners, HAPPY promises to be a deeply personal and spiritually uplifting addition to Jenn Johnson’s already influential legacy.
