ATLANTA, GA. — Bretty Younker Shares The Heart Behind Passion Music’s Worship Anthem “The Lamb’s Book of Life.” Sometimes, the most powerful songs are born not in studios or writing rooms, but in the quiet, sacred moments of reflection. For Passion Music’s Bretty Younker, it happened on a Sunday morning in church — a moment that would not only move him to tears but ultimately inspire “The Lamb’s Book of Life,” a worship anthem anchored in eternity.

As the congregation studied Revelation chapters 20 and 21 — the apocalyptic vision of Jesus reigning in glory, restoring all things, and ushering in a new heaven and new earth — Younker found himself captivated by a vivid and sobering scene: the great white throne of judgment and the two books described in Scripture.

“There’s one set of books,” Younker recounted, “that has recorded everything that you and I have ever done in our lives. All the good things, all the bad things — everything that separates us from God. And then there’s another book: the Lamb’s Book of Life. It holds the names of those who have put their faith in Jesus, who’ve been made new and righteous by His blood.”

It was in this moment of deep spiritual reckoning that the weight of his own salvation overwhelmed him.

“I just began to weep in my seat,” he said, recalling how the reality of his name being written in that book hit him with holy force. “Not just tears — I was literally sobbing. My wife put her hand on me and asked, ‘Are you okay?’ And I had to say, ‘No, I’m not really okay.’ I was so grateful, so undone by Jesus and His goodness.”

That raw emotion stayed with him for weeks. And when it came time to write new music with fellow worship leaders and creatives, that encounter became the heartbeat of what would eventually be “The Lamb’s Book of Life.”

Younker describes the song as a journey through three dimensions of the Christian faith — the cross, the present moment, and the eternal future.

“I love that this song puts an eternal reality right in front of us,” he explained. “Because my name is in that book, I’m a worshipper today. I’m alive in Christ. I have hope. I have victory over sin, right now. And I have a future with Jesus that nothing can take away.”

With its sweeping melodies and Scripture-rich lyrics, “The Lamb’s Book of Life” is more than just another worship song — it’s a declaration of identity, hope, and perseverance. It’s a timely reminder, Younker says, that in a world marked by brokenness and hardship, the story doesn’t end here.

“We want this song to elevate the church’s view of who Jesus is — what He’s done, what He’s doing, and what He will do,” Younker said. “Our prayer is that it would give people strength to endure, hope to hold onto, and joy for today.”
