In an emotional Instagram post, Sibiya looked back on a memorable moment shared with Dube, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to have worked alongside the late vocalist.

“When I look back at this moment, my heart is filled with gratitude. It means so much to have shared a moment like this with my dear friend, the late Nhlanhla Dube,” she wrote.

She also encouraged those who have yet to discover their collaboration to listen to Your True Friend (Jesus) [Live], describing the recording as a masterpiece worth experiencing.

Released in 2026 under Busi Sibiya & JUDAH NEW CREATION WORSHIP, the song features Dube and carries a message centred on Jesus as the truest friend. Beyond its musical offering, the recording now holds added significance as a lasting reminder of the bond the two gospel artists shared.

Dube passed away on 22 September 2026, leaving a void in South African gospel music. He was particularly recognised for his work as a backing vocalist for gospel singer Bucy Radebe, serving alongside her for six years and contributing to live recordings released in 2019, 2022 and 2025.

Following news of his passing, tributes from across the gospel community reflected on his dedication to music, his loyalty and the impact he made through his work. Sibiya’s latest message adds a deeply personal perspective to the growing remembrance of a vocalist whose contribution extended beyond the stage.

However, her reflection was not only about remembering a friend. Sibiya also took the opportunity to appreciate the people who continue to walk alongside her in ministry, describing a relationship that goes beyond music.

“I am also grateful that my team and I are not just people connected through music, but a family growing together in faith, love, and purpose. A family that shares in joy, carries one another through the difficult moments, and continues to use the gift of music to glorify Jesus,” she shared.

Her words highlight the importance of genuine relationships within ministry, where music becomes more than a profession and serves as a way to express faith, build community and bring glory to Christ.

Sibiya’s own journey in gospel music began at the age of 11 when she started singing at her local church. Born in February 1992, the South African singer and songwriter has continued to develop her ministry through releases under Sound Alert Music Records, including the Heart of Worship volumes and songs such as Silawule, All My Days and Ngiyazinikela.

Her music often centres on worship, surrender and a willingness to follow God’s leading, themes that also come through in her latest reflection on friendship and the people who support her calling.

By directing listeners to Your True Friend (Jesus) [Live], Busi Sibiya is giving Dube’s contribution another moment in the spotlight while encouraging believers to revisit a song whose message carries particular weight following his passing.

Ultimately, her tribute is a reminder that the relationships formed through music and faith can leave a lasting mark. While Dube may no longer be present to share the stage with his fellow gospel ministers, his voice remains part of a recording that celebrates the friendship, faith and devotion they shared.
