Chandler Moore Releases Deeply Personal Song “I Checked Into Rehab”
Chandler Moore Releases Deeply Personal Song “I Checked Into Rehab.” Grammy-winning worship artist Chandler Moore is opening another chapter of his recovery journey through music, releasing his deeply personal new song “I Checked Into Rehab” exclusively through his personal website.

Chandler Moore, best known for his work with Maverick City Music and his influential contributions to contemporary worship, shared the news in a vulnerable social media post, revealing that he has checked into rehab and inviting listeners to follow what he describes as an ongoing journey of healing and restoration.
“I CHECKED INTO REHAB. THE SONG IS OUT, EXCLUSIVELY ON MY WEBSITE NOW,” Moore wrote. He also revealed plans to share unreleased music, journal entries and other personal material as the journey continues, while encouraging people to pass the message along to anyone who may be struggling.
The release follows Moore’s growing openness about a difficult season in his life. In November 2023, the singer spent 40 days in inpatient treatment, a period he later described as a wilderness experience that profoundly changed how he viewed himself, his faith and his relationships.
Chandler Moore eventually began speaking publicly about that chapter in 2025, including the shame and emotional weight that made it difficult for him to face some of the letters sent by his family during that period.
He has described those 40 days as a season that exposed painful parts of his life while also deepening his relationship with God. For Moore, the experience became less about hiding his struggles and more about confronting them honestly.
The new song brings that experience directly into his music. Earlier this month, Moore previewed the track with a stripped-back piano performance on Instagram before taking it to the stage. The song centers on the moment he made the decision to seek professional help, capturing the vulnerability and uncertainty surrounding that step.
Rather than presenting recovery from a distance, Moore is allowing listeners into the process as it unfolds. His decision to release the song exclusively through his website also creates a more personal space for him to share material that may not fit within a traditional album or streaming release.
Moore has spent much of his career using music to communicate themes of faith, surrender and dependence on God. As a founding voice of Maverick City Music during its early years, he became known for songs including “Jireh” and “Man of Your Word,” while his solo career has continued to produce significant releases, including the chart-topping “Lead Me On.”
This time, however, the testimony is much closer to home.
By pairing the song with unreleased music and pages from his personal journal, Moore is turning his website into a window into a season that he once struggled to talk about publicly. His message also extends beyond his own story, as he specifically encouraged his audience to share the release with anyone who may be facing their own struggles.
For Christian audiences, Moore’s openness adds another dimension to an increasingly important conversation around recovery, addiction, trauma, mental health and the realities faced by people serving in public ministry. His story presents seeking help as part of confronting what needs to change rather than something that has to remain hidden.
As Moore continues his recovery journey with the support of those closest to him, “I Checked Into Rehab” becomes more than another release in his catalogue. It is a personal record of a difficult decision and an invitation for others to recognize that they do not have to face their struggles alone.
The song is currently available exclusively through Chandler Moore’s website, where he says more personal material will be shared as his journey continues.
