Chelsea Plank Announces New Single “Make Me Willing.” Worship artist and songwriter Chelsea Plank is preparing to release a deeply personal new single, “Make Me Willing,” exploring surrender, human weakness, and the need for God’s transforming work.
ChelseaPlank, who serves as worship director at Southeastern University and is known for her work with SEU Worship, announced the upcoming release in an Instagram post on Monday. She described the song as a reminder that human weakness can become an opportunity for God to be glorified.
“A song about how the best parts of me are the parts that need God the most — that he might be glorified,” she wrote. “Not about striving towards willingness, but about inviting God into the unwillingness in me.”
Rather than presenting surrender as something believers can achieve through determination alone, “Make Me Willing” explores the importance of bringing even the most resistant parts of the heart before God. The song’s central message points to a dependence on divine grace, acknowledging that the desire to obey and follow God is itself something worth praying for.
The theme also connects with Plank’s recent appearance on the Mature Me podcast with Rich Wilkerson Jr., where she spoke about asking God to transform her desires.
“Sometimes I have to ask God to make me willing,” she shared, expressing a sentiment that now takes centre stage in her upcoming release.
Plank has continued to explore themes of faith, surrender, and dependence on God through her songwriting and ministry with SEU Worship. Her work includes the widely embraced song “What A God,” which has helped introduce her songwriting to a broader worship audience.
With “Make Me Willing,” Plank turns her attention to a familiar but often difficult aspect of the Christian walk: acknowledging that willingness does not always come naturally. The song encourages believers to approach God honestly, bringing their struggles and resistance to Him rather than waiting until their hearts feel ready.
