Victoria Orenze Reacts To GloRilla’s BET Gospel Award Win

Victoria Orenze Reacts To GloRilla’s BET Gospel Award Win. Renowned Nigerian gospel minister and worship leader Victoria Orenze has sparked conversation across social media after publicly sharing her views on the recent BET Awards 2025, where rapper GloRilla took home the Best Gospel/Inspirational Award.

Orenze, known for her unflinching dedication to Scripture and spiritual integrity, took to her platform to address what she sees as a growing disconnect between worldly recognition and biblical truth.
“Why are we expecting BET Awards to follow the standard of the Scripture (BIBLE) when they are not governed or led by the Scripture (BIBLE)?” Orenze questioned in her post. “Unbelievers CANNOT define THE GOSPEL.”
The comment comes after GloRilla, an artist widely known for her mainstream rap career, received the gospel honour at the prestigious American awards ceremony. While some fans praised the BET Awards for broadening the scope of gospel and inspirational content, Orenze expressed concern over what she sees as a misrepresentation of the message of Christ.
Anticipating backlash from critics who might call her out for being “judgmental,” Orenze added:
“Some people will come now with some defence of ‘don’t judge’ that does not add up. Just saying 🤗”
Yet, her message was not one of condemnation but of deep conviction. She concluded with a plea, underlining that her statements come from a place of love:
“Listen to me or not, like me or not, like how I said it or not, agree with me or not, I am not your enemy, I am your FRIEND 🤝!
I beg you in the name of the Lord today—
Don’t hate THE TRUTH
Love THE TRUTH
Share THE TRUTH”
Her post has since ignited widespread debate online, with some applauding her for defending biblical values, while others argue that the gospel message should not be boxed into traditional categories, especially in an era where many artists are exploring their faith through unconventional expressions.
