Brandon Lake Announces New Single “How Good God Is.” Brandon Lake is inviting listeners to find gratitude in the middle of life’s most difficult seasons with his upcoming single, “How Good God Is,” scheduled for release on August 28.
The Grammy-winning Christian artist and worship leader announced the song in a heartfelt social media post, describing it as a deeply personal reflection on how painful experiences can ultimately lead people into a deeper dependence on God.
“The hardest things in life are always an invitation to a greater level of trust,” Brandon Lake wrote, sharing the heart behind the song. He expressed hope that the track would help listeners change the way they view circumstances they cannot understand, control or fix.
“I hope this song can shift people’s perspective like it has mine to a place of thanking God…even for the moments we can’t fix or figure out ourselves but are forced to turn to Him,” he added.
Lake had previously given fans a glimpse of the song in late June when he shared an intimate acoustic piano performance after a power outage interrupted a studio session. The unexpected moment became an opportunity to preview a song centered on discovering God’s faithfulness through hardship.
The lyrics point directly to that message, reflecting on how anger, silence and moments of breaking can become unexpected pathways toward prayer, patience and a deeper awareness of God’s goodness.

Songwriting credits associated with the track, which has also appeared in industry registries under a similar title, include Lake, Jonathan Smith, Derrick Southerland and Emily Weisband. The collaboration brings together writers with experience across contemporary Christian music and country-inspired songwriting.
The new release adds to what has been an impressive stretch for Lake, who has become one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Christian music. His growing catalogue includes major worship anthems such as “Gratitude,” “Praise” with Elevation Worship and “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” his collaboration with Jelly Roll that earned Grammy recognition.
Lake’s 2025 album, King of Hearts, further cemented his momentum, reaching the top 10 of the all-genre Billboard 200 while also performing strongly across Christian and rock charts.
