TASHA COBBS LEONARD RETURNS TO THE ROOM WITH SWEEPING LIVE ALBUM TASHA UNSCRIPTED
TASHA COBBS LEONARD RETURNS TO THE ROOM WITH SWEEPING LIVE ALBUM TASHA UNSCRIPTED. Three-time Grammy Award winner and Billboard’s Gospel Artist of the Decade Tasha Cobbs Leonard has returned to the live worship setting with Tasha Unscripted, a 34-track album recorded in front of a packed audience at Change Church in Atlanta. Released on September 11, 2026, the expansive project captures a night of worship built around spontaneity, extended moments and the freedom to let the music unfold naturally.

“After stepping into a quieter, more intimate creative space with TASHA, I felt called back to the room, to the kind of night where you cannot predict what God will do next,” Cobbs Leonard said in a statement. “Tasha Unscripted captures what happened when we made space for the songs to breathe and for people to respond in real time. There was so much freedom in that room, and I’m excited for everyone to finally experience it, both on the album and on tour.”
The album arrives a year after Cobbs Leonard’s 2025 studio debut, TASHA, which topped Billboard’s gospel charts and featured collaborations with John Legend, Kirk Franklin, Lecrae and Chandler Moore. While that project offered a more intimate and carefully shaped studio experience, Tasha Unscripted takes the singer back to the live environment that has played a defining role throughout her career.
True to its title, the album leaves room for the unexpected. Songs are extended, medleys develop in the moment, reprises appear naturally and the voices of the congregation remain part of the experience. Rather than attempting to recreate a perfectly controlled performance, Cobbs Leonard allows listeners to hear the movement of a worship gathering as it happened.
The night also brought together a remarkable collection of gospel voices and artists from different musical backgrounds. William Murphy joins Tasha Cobbs Leonard for “Break Every Chain” before they move into the “Power In The Blood / Jesus, I’ll Never Forget” medley. Pastor Mike Todd appears on “I’m Getting Ready / Let’s Go,” while Israel Houghton joins her for “Gracefully Broken / Who The Son Sets Free.”
Country star Mickey Guyton adds another dimension to the project with “The Church I Grew Up In.” Other featured appearances include Jonathan McReynolds on “For Your Glory,” Travis Greene, Dante Bowe, Karen Clark Sheard and Le’Andria Johnson. Clark Sheard contributes to moments including “Put A Praise On It / Hallelujah” and “Jesus In The Morning,” while Johnson joins Cobbs Leonard for the emotional “You Know My Name.”
Across its 34 tracks, Tasha Unscripted also makes space for spoken moments such as “The Grace Talk,” “God Responds” and “An Unscripted Moment.” New material, including “Final Say,” sits alongside reprises and extended worship passages, giving the album the feel of a complete night rather than a collection of isolated performances.
That sense of unpredictability was already evident in the previews released ahead of the album, including the collaborations with Houghton and Johnson. Reports from those who attended the Atlanta recording pointed to a worship night that continued for hours, allowing the gathering to move beyond a conventional concert format.
Cobbs Leonard is taking that same approach onto the road. The Tasha Unscripted Nights Tour begins on September 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina, with additional stops scheduled for Brunswick, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York, Boston, Dallas, Raleigh and other cities. The live shows are expected to carry the same open-ended spirit that defines the album.
With a career that includes major chart achievements, multiple Stellar and Dove Awards and an expanding presence beyond the gospel space, Tasha Unscripted marks another significant chapter for Cobbs Leonard. The album brings her back to the setting where spontaneity, collective worship and an audience responding in real time can become part of the music itself.
