Matt Crocker Releases Intimate Live Collection “in lieu of me (Vol. 2)” Former Hillsong UNITED vocalist and worship songwriter Matt Crocker has released his new live album, MATT CROCKER – in lieu of me (Vol. 2) [Live], on October 23, 2026, through Anotherland.

Matt Crocker Releases Intimate Live Collection “in lieu of me (Vol. 2)”

The 20-track collection continues the stripped-back musical direction introduced in his recent house partiii (Vol. 1) sessions. Moving away from the grand arrangements associated with arena worship, Crocker revisits songs from his catalogue in a more intimate setting, drawing on the simplicity of friends gathering around a bonfire with camping chairs to sing together. The recordings embrace a natural, unpolished sound that places the songs and their meaning at the centre of the experience.

Matt Crocker has helped shape modern worship music through songs such as “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail),” “This I Believe (The Creed),” and “I Surrender.” In recent years, he has also explored a more personal, alternative-leaning sound through his 2025 solo debut, interlude, and subsequent live releases. With in lieu of me (Vol. 2), he continues that journey by revisiting familiar worship songs in arrangements that offer a different perspective on the material.

The tracklist features live versions of “Love Like Fire,” “Mercy Mercy,” “Search My Heart,” “Heart Like Heaven,” “Oh You Bring,” “Let There Be Light,” “Oceans,” “Underneath My Skin,” “Amazing Love,” and “Thank You Jesus.” Several songs, including “Mercy Mercy (in lieu of me)” and “Heart Like Heaven (in lieu of me),” were released as singles ahead of the full project, giving listeners an early taste of the collection’s musical direction.

The new album builds on the intimate approach established in house partiii (Vol. 1), allowing Crocker to reconnect with songs he has performed over the years without relying on elaborate production. The focus remains on the music, the lyrics and the shared experience of singing together, presenting familiar material in a setting that feels more personal than a traditional live worship recording.

Through in lieu of me (Vol. 2), Crocker offers listeners another glimpse into his evolving solo career while revisiting songs that have become part of the modern worship repertoire. The collection brings a quieter, more stripped-back perspective to his songwriting, allowing the familiar melodies and messages to take centre stage.
