The project builds on a musical direction Pappas has been developing since signing with Integrity Music. Rather than simply creating songs for personal listening, the songwriter has been intentional about producing music that can live inside church services, connect congregations and point listeners back to Jesus.
That vision represents a deliberate evolution in Alexander Pappas’ solo career. Before joining Integrity Music, he described his Idaho and American Dream projects as his “Monday music”, referring to songs designed to encourage believers throughout their everyday lives. His goal with his newer material has been to return to writing what he calls “Sunday” songs, music that the church can sing together while boldly proclaiming the Gospel.
The new album follows the release of SUNDAY, a six-track Integrity Music project that arrived in April 2026. That project featured songs including “Hands Up,” “It Is So Sweet,” “Always Been Jesus,” “Any Good Thing” and “Won’t He Do It.”
“Everything With Breath” also forms part of the musical thread surrounding Pappas’ current season, with the songwriter continuing to build a catalogue centred on faith, surrender and the goodness of God. Spotify’s listing for Songs I Wrote For Sundays identifies several of these previously released songs within the new project’s catalogue.
Pappas’ approach to worship songwriting has been shaped by years of writing songs that have travelled well beyond his own ministry context. As a founding member of Hillsong Young & Free, he was involved in songs such as “Alive,” “Wake” and “Real Love,” helping establish his reputation as a songwriter whose work could resonate with congregations around the world.
His current chapter, however, carries a noticeably personal dimension. Pappas has spoken openly about walking through difficult seasons that influenced the songs he was writing, with those experiences ultimately pushing him toward music centred on trust in Jesus rather than simply documenting what he was going through.
That tension between personal struggle and congregational declaration has become one of the defining qualities of his recent work. On SUNDAY, for example, “Always Been Jesus” emerged as one of the project’s most personal statements, while “It Is So Sweet,” featuring Chelsea Plank of SEU Worship, connected a contemporary worship sound with the enduring message of the hymn “‘Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.”
Pappas’ partnership with Integrity Music has also given this new chapter a clear ministry focus. When the label announced his signing in 2025, he said he wanted his songs to serve God’s people and the church, creating music that could be sung in both the highest moments and the lowest valleys.
That mission now sits at the heart of Songs I Wrote For Sundays. The album is more than another release in Pappas’ catalogue. It reflects an artist intentionally returning to the communal side of worship songwriting, creating songs designed not only to be heard but potentially carried into churches and sung by people together.
