CXMMXNS Rebrands As Commons Worship To Make Its Worship Easier To Find & Share. The worship collective formerly known as CXMMXNS has officially entered a new chapter, trading its distinctive name for something far more straightforward: Commons Worship.
The group recently announced the rebrand on social media, making it clear that while the name is changing, the purpose behind the ministry remains firmly intact.
“When we started CXMMXNS, the heart was simple: to write worship songs that could serve the Church,” the collective shared. “Our mission still remains the same, but we are changing our name.”
For those who followed the collective closely, CXMMXNS was never just a stylized collection of letters. The “X” represented the Greek letter chi, the first letter of Christos, pointing directly to Christ and the shared faith at the centre of the collective’s identity.
But what carried meaning for those who understood it also created a practical challenge. The name often needed an explanation, from how it was pronounced to what the unusual spelling meant. Finding the group online and sharing its music could also become more complicated than necessary.
That realization ultimately led to the change.
“We’ve recognized that our name needed a lot of explaining,” the team explained. “While we loved what it meant, we want the name to get out of the way so the songs, resources and worship can be easier to find, share and carry into the local church.”
The new name also brings greater clarity to the vision that has shaped the collective from the beginning. At the heart of Commons Worship is a desire to create songs that belong in the life of the local church, whether they are being sung by thousands of worshippers or a small congregation gathered in an intimate room.
The collective is led by acclaimed worship songwriters Ben Fielding and Reuben Morgan, whose songwriting has helped shape modern worship across the globe. Their extensive catalogues include songs such as What a Beautiful Name, Who You Say I Am, Goodness of God, Cornerstone and Mighty to Save.
Under the CXMMXNS name, that same church-centred approach continued through releases including Chapter 1, All the Praise Belongs and The Commons Chapel. Each project has reflected a commitment to creating worship that is accessible, sincere and rooted in the gathered church.
For now, the transition will not happen overnight. The old and new names may continue appearing side by side across streaming services, websites and social media as the collective works through the practical side of the rebrand.
Still, the message behind the change is remarkably simple. Commons Worship wants fewer barriers between the music and the people who are meant to sing it.
This is not a reinvention of the ministry. It is a clearing of the path.
