Deborah Lukalu’s “Ma Consolation” Certified Gold!
Deborah Lukalu’s “Ma Consolation” Certified Gold! In a moment filled with tears of joy and overflowing gratitude, Congolese gospel star Deborah Lukalu has been awarded a Disque d’Or (Gold Disc) for her 2020 single “Ma Consolation.”

The certification comes from Africa Music & Charts (AMC) as part of its 2026 rankings, recognizing the song’s enduring commercial and spiritual impact across Francophone Africa and beyond.
The artist shared the news with an emotional post that captured both the weight of her journey and the depth of her faith. Posing proudly with the framed gold record in an elegant home setting, Lukalu wrote of the private battles behind her public ministry:
“There were days I sang when nobody saw the tears behind the smile. Days I kept going when I felt tired. Days I wondered if the songs God placed in my heart would ever reach the world. But God had a plan. What started with a song, a dream, and a simple ‘YES’ to God has become a testimony I could never have written for myself.”
She continued, dedicating the award first and foremost to Jesus: “JESUS, YOU DID THIS. This award belongs first to YOU.” Lukalu thanked every listener who streamed, shared, sang along, worshipped through, or prayed over the song, before declaring, “From the little girl who dreamed of singing in the church… to standing here holding a DISQUE D’OR. ONLY GOD COULD HAVE DONE THIS. JESUS, I GIVE YOU ALL THE GLORY! THE BEST IS STILL TO COME.”
Born in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo, in 1994, Deborah Lukalu moved with her family to South Africa after the death of her father when she was nine. She discovered gospel music in church choirs and committed her life to Christ as a teenager. Her professional career began in 2015 with the EP Law Breaker, followed by albums including Overflow (2016), Call Me Favour (2018), and Trust in the Storm (2023), along with powerful live recordings from London, Belgium, and the Zénith de Paris. “Ma Consolation,” released during the challenging early months of the pandemic, has become one of her signature songs, a heartfelt declaration of Jesus as friend, provider, and comfort amid life’s storms. Its official video and various live performances have collectively drawn tens of millions of views, while the track continues to rank among her most-streamed works.
Africa Music & Charts, the pan-African certification body founded in 2024 and based in Dakar, evaluates success through audited data on sales, downloads, and streams. The gold certification for “Ma Consolation” places the song among the standout achievements of AMC’s 2026 rankings and underscores the growing formal recognition of African gospel music.
For Lukalu, who now lives in Atlanta with her husband Cedric Kaseba and their children, the award is less a career milestone than a public testimony. After more than a decade of ministry that has taken her from church platforms to international stages, she continues to frame every success as evidence of divine faithfulness. In her own words, the best is still to come.
Fans and fellow believers across the gospel community have celebrated the moment, seeing in Lukalu’s journey a reminder that quiet obedience and steadfast faith can, in God’s timing, reach the world.
