Divine Souls SA Brings New Life To “Lutheran Hymn 290” With Andiswa Mbantsa
Divine Souls SA Brings New Life To “Lutheran Hymn 290” With Andiswa Mbantsa. Divine Souls SA has released Lutheran Hymn 290, a contemporary take on the traditional hymn featuring acclaimed gospel vocalist Andiswa Mbantsa.
The new single is now available across major digital streaming platforms, bringing together Divine Souls SA’s African-inspired sound, layered vocal harmonies and modern worship approach. The collective has described the release as a song centred on hope, worship and revival.
“IT’S FINALLY HERE! LUTHERAN HYMN 290 – Divine Souls SA ft. Andiswa Mbantsa is NOW AVAILABLE on all digital platforms! This is more than a song; it’s a hymn of hope, worship and revival. Thank you for your prayers and support that made this possible,” the group announced.
Divine Souls SA was formed in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdown, when founders Jerry Seabela, Maphuta Monareng and Sabata Masoka began holding acapella sessions in a small Johannesburg living room. Those early sessions eventually developed into a ministry-focused collective committed to creating faith-driven music while supporting independent artists.
The group made its debut with the 2021 album The Introduction, followed by the 2024 Gratitude EP, which featured songs including “Dumelang Hallelujah” and “Awuhluleki”. Its more recent releases include “Igama Lakho” with Nceba Sondlo.
Mbantsa is no stranger to Divine Souls SA’s music. The seasoned gospel vocalist, who previously performed with Joyous Celebration, has already collaborated with the collective on “Awuhluleki” and “Dumelang Hallelujah”. Her experience and distinctive vocal delivery bring another layer to the latest collaboration.
With Lutheran Hymn 290, Divine Souls SA draws from the heritage of Lutheran hymnody while presenting the material through a contemporary African gospel perspective. The release continues the collective’s focus on music that communicates faith, hope and spiritual renewal.
The single is available now on Spotify, Apple Music and other major digital platforms, adding another chapter to Divine Souls SA’s growing catalogue of worship music.
