Ncebakazi Msomi Unveils Forthcoming Single ‘Wafa Engonanga’ Ahead of Passover. South African gospel artist Ncebakazi Msomi has revealed that she will soon release a deeply personal new single titled Wafa Engonanga, arriving on 20 March 2026 as the Christian community begins preparing for Passover.

In an emotional message shared on social media, Ncebakazi Msomi admitted that the song carries a weight that proved difficult to explain, even when she attempted to record a video about it. “This one is deeply personal for me,” she wrote. “I’m a person of many words when I need to be, so I tried to do a video to explain, but I just could not do it right now, but God can read my heart.”

The song is dedicated to a woman, Msomi says, “modelled the true gospel” in her life, someone who served as a source of spiritual guidance and inspiration. Addressing the woman’s loved ones, Msomi offered words of reassurance. “It is well, He is the same God always,” she wrote, referring to them as her “siblings.” She also expressed gratitude to the team that supported her through the emotional process of recording the track.

“I was most petrified of my potential inability to stay strong for this personal song, but God used you to carry me, and we are here today because you stood with me,” she shared. Msomi gave special recognition to “Magic Hands,” thanking them for helping capture what she described as the heart of the song. Reflecting on the recording session, she added that “on this night something broke in the room,” hinting at a powerful moment of spiritual breakthrough during the creative process.

Over the years, Msomi has become known for her moving interpretations of hymns and worship songs, particularly through projects such as The 37th Psalm and The 34th Psalm. Her music blends traditional South African gospel influences with scripture-rooted themes that often draw from Xhosa hymns and messages of redemption, grace, and the unchanging nature of God.

With the release arriving during the lead-up to Passover, Msomi encouraged listeners to reflect on the deeper meaning of the season. “Now, as we move towards the Passover period, may we all appropriately remember the Reason for our freedom and redemption from sin and its condemnation,” she wrote. She also spoke honestly about wrestling with feelings of guilt despite human efforts to overcome sin, explaining her deep focus on what she called the “finished work of Calvary.”

The isiXhosa phrase Wafa Engonanga, Wafa Woyisa reflects that conviction, emphasising the belief that Christ died innocent and willingly, completing the work of redemption through His sacrifice.

Fans have long celebrated Msomi’s ability to minister through music. Her songs have amassed millions of streams across platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. The upcoming single is expected to continue that impact, offering a timely message of grace and reflection as Easter approaches.
