Worship artist and songwriter Taya Gaukrodger, widely recognised for her powerful voice and sincere heart of praise, recently opened up about the spiritual revelations that have shaped her journey in the past few years.

In a heartfelt reflection, she described a transformative period marked by personal sacrifice, vulnerability, and a deepening love for the global Church.

“I think the last couple of years,” Taya shared, “and you’ll hear it in the songs that are coming out — it’s just a response to all of this. It’s like bringing our whole lives, which I think is what worship truly is — sacrifice and obedience.”

Rooted in Romans 12, Taya emphasised the essence of “true and proper worship” as offering every part of one’s life — “our walking around life, our eating, our sleeping” — to God as a living sacrifice. But for her, this wasn’t just theory. It was a lived experience.

“This season has taught me to surrender everything,” she said. “To bring everything before God — even the things I didn’t know I needed to.”

From facing personal grief to dealing with disappointment and internal revelations, Taya spoke candidly about how the refining fire of life’s challenges led her closer to God’s heart.

“It’s been uncomfortable,” she admitted, “learning to offer a sacrifice of praise even when I don’t understand — holding joy and grief in the same hand. But it’s been beautiful too. Because in that discomfort, God, in His kindness, gives us confessions. Sometimes we don’t even know we need them until we walk through something and look back.”

One of those confessions, she recalled, came years ago — a divine whisper urging her to “bring everything into the light.” Now, living through that very process, she reflects on the mercy of a God who not only reveals but heals, confronting bitterness and replacing festering wounds with freedom.

Taya’s revelations have also deepened her commitment to the Church, not just as a concept but as Christ’s beloved bride.

“I want to be about the thing God is about,” she said passionately. “Jesus is coming back for the Church. I want to love her, be part of her, and do everything I can to help her become who she truly is — reflecting Jesus.”

With a heart full of expectancy and eyes fixed on eternity, Taya continues to pen music that mirrors this journey — raw, reverent, and real.

“I’m just excited for the day He comes again.”
