“I just felt like there was a song that was missing,” Gayle said. “A song that set expectations of what it is that we were doing in the room, which is ultimately to understand that we’re in the presence of the King.”
The message behind “In The Presence of The King” also reflects Gayle’s understanding of worship as something that goes beyond simply performing music on a stage. She emphasised that the purpose of the gathering is not centred on the songs themselves or the performance.
“We’re not up there just singing songs. We’re not up there to perform,” she said.
Gayle further explained that even when the setting is a Christmas show, the ultimate purpose remains the same. Rather than simply entertaining an audience before everyone heads home, she wants the focus to remain on encountering God.
“We’re not there to even just do our Christmas show and then go home. We’re there because we’re in the presence of the King,” she said.
