DOMINICA MTHOMBENI STEPS BOLDLY INTO HER CALLING WITH DEBUT EP “THE APPEARANCE” South African gospel singer, songwriter and vocal coach Dominica Mthombeni has officially unveiled her long-awaited debut EP, The Appearance, marking a defining moment in her musical and spiritual journey.
Released on Friday, 7 August 2026, the project introduces a body of work rooted in faith, obedience and personal revelation, reflecting an artist who has embraced her calling with confidence.
The release follows an emotional message Mthombeni shared a week earlier after hosting a private listening session for the project. “I had my burning bush moment with the Lord, and He appeared to me,” she wrote. “This is a culmination of prayers, devotion with God and a yes from a girl who believes it’s no longer time to hide or be timid but to trust in the Lord, and fulfill assignment.” Accompanied by striking promotional artwork for the EP, her testimony resonated with supporters and built anticipation ahead of the official release.
The Appearance represents the next chapter for the Centurion-based artist, who first captured attention with her debut single Siyakudumisa. Earlier this year, she continued her upward trajectory with Your Presence, a collaboration with Buhle Thela inspired by Joshua 1:9, introducing listeners to her heartfelt songwriting and worship-driven sound. Her latest project expands on that foundation, presenting songs born out of prayer, intimacy with God and a growing sense of purpose.
Originally from the Balanga area before settling in Centurion, Mthombeni combines ministry with strong musical training. She graduated from the Tshwane University of Technology’s Jazz and Popular Music programme in 2021, a background that shines through in her polished vocals and expressive delivery. Outside of music, she also works as a vocal coach and makeup artist while remaining actively involved in her local church, viewing every aspect of her creativity as an expression of her faith.
The title The Appearance captures the heart of the project. Inspired by Dominica Mthombeni‘s own encounter with God, the EP reflects the life-changing moment when fear gives way to faith and obedience replaces hesitation. Rather than simply offering a collection of songs, the project serves as both a testimony of God’s faithfulness and an invitation for listeners to pursue a deeper relationship with Him.
