Nontokozo Mkhize Honours God’s Faithfulness With Forthcoming EP ‘27:27’
Nontokozo Mkhize Honours God’s Faithfulness With Forthcoming EP ‘27:27.’ Nontokozo Hlengwa Mkhize is turning her 27th birthday into a celebration of faith, purpose and music with the announcement of her upcoming EP, 27:27, set for release on 27 August.

The South African gospel and Afro-soul singer shared the exciting news on Instagram, revealing that the project’s title carries deep personal significance. Reflecting on the journey leading up to the release, she described it as a testimony of God’s faithfulness in her life.
“Every step ordered 🥺❤️. Chapter 27, a testimony of God’s goodness and grace🙇♀️. This journey that has made the whole process so beautiful and so worth it, ngiyabonga,” she wrote.
Mkhize also thanked everyone who has supported her throughout her career before inviting fans to celebrate the milestone alongside her.
“This is ours ❤️. 27 August we have an EP coming out.”
The title 27:27 perfectly aligns with the singer’s story. Born on 27 August 1999, she will celebrate her 27th birthday on the very day the EP arrives, making the project both a personal landmark and a shared moment with her supporters. The repeated number reflects the themes of purpose, divine timing and gratitude that echo throughout her announcement.
Mkhize’s rise has been nothing short of extraordinary. After spending several years as a backing vocalist from 2017, she stepped into the spotlight as a solo artist in 2024 and quickly became one of South Africa’s brightest gospel voices.
Her breakout single, “Esandleni,” dominated Spotify’s South African charts and became the most-streamed solo song by a female artist in the country within a single week. She followed that success with her acclaimed debut album, Lindiwe, later expanded into a deluxe edition in October 2025. Named in honour of her late mother, the project earned widespread praise and collected several major accolades, including Newcomer of the Year at both the South African Music Awards and Metro FM Music Awards, as well as Gospel Artist of the Year and Song of the Year at the Basadi in Music Awards. The album also received recognition at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).
Faith has remained at the centre of Mkhize’s music and message, and 27:27 appears set to continue that journey. Although the tracklist, guest appearances and additional details have yet to be revealed, the announcement has already generated excitement among fans who are eager to experience what she calls a shared testimony.
When 27 August arrives, Nontokozo Mkhize will not only celebrate another year of life but also open a new chapter through 27:27, a project rooted in gratitude, grace and God’s perfect timing.
