Chandler Moore Opens Up About Vulnerability And The Calling Behind His Music. Gospel artist Chandler Moore has opened up about the vulnerability behind his music, explaining that his songwriting is deeply connected to his walk with God and his desire to help people find language for their relationship with Him.
Chandler Moore pointed to Revelation 12:11, which speaks about believers overcoming by “the blood of the Lamb” and “the word of their testimony,” saying the scripture has shaped his understanding of vulnerability and the importance of sharing personal experiences.
“I first firmly believe in vulnerability, especially people who call themselves, you know, followers of Christ,” Moore said. “We overcome because of what Jesus did. And it’s crazy that the scripture basically says you don’t just overcome by the blood of the Lamb, but you also overcome by the word of your testimony, which essentially means you got to talk about it.”
The singer acknowledged that becoming more vulnerable has been an ongoing process in his walk with God. He said he continues to work through pride, ego and people-pleasing tendencies that can sometimes make genuine openness difficult.
“With my journey and with my walk with the Lord, I am constantly learning how to shed and scale, if you will, off the pride and off of the ego and off of the even people-pleasing that comes with some of what I do in order to be vulnerable,” he explained.
For Moore, that vulnerability is also central to his approach to songwriting. He said he does not view his music simply as a career, but as an expression of a calling.
“I don’t walk in a room like, I just want to write songs for a career,” Moore said. “I just know this is a calling.”
Part of that calling, he explained, is helping other people articulate their own relationship with God. His ability to do that comes from his own process of searching for the right words to express his faith.
“One of the callings is I am to help people have language for their relationship with God, and that comes from me trying to figure out the language,” he said.
For Moore, that personal search is at the heart of the songs he creates. His music becomes an extension of his own journey with God, making vulnerability an essential part of the creative process. “So that’s where these songs come from, and that requires vulnerability,” he said.
